Jada Hernandez is no stranger to the hustle. She’s not just a boutique owner – she’s also a 19-year-old college student who somehow finds the time in her schedule to run her online store and work two jobs.
Jada just started Peachy Boutique earlier this year, and it’s amazing what she’s already been able to accomplish in the past few months. We chatted with Jada all about her gorgeous boutique, her business goals, and her advice for fellow boutique owners – take notes, friends!
Why did you start your boutique?
Honestly, I just wanted somewhere to buy beautiful clothes. Whenever I went to the store, I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. I’d find a top that was almost right, but I didn’t like the big logo on the front, or the graphics, or the stitching, or some other detail. I wanted to create a boutique where everything in it was an automatic “YES” – full of clothing that I loved and that anyone could feel totally confident in.
Who’s your ideal customer?
It’s anybody, really – if they wanna turn heads, if they want lots of compliments, if they want to totally love what they’re wearing no matter where they are, they can find that at Peachy Boutique. Beauty is female – our clothes celebrate that.
What’s been your greatest accomplishment so far?
I’d say sales! When I first started my boutique back in February, I was totally prepared for just my friends and family to buy from it. But from the beginning I’ve seen a good amount of sales & really steady growth on social media, too. When you’re starting a business from scratch, it’s so exciting to be able to track your growth, even when it’s in the early stages!
How do your customers typically find you?
Most of my customers have come from social media, especially Instagram. I use hashtags to help new potential customers find my store and it’s been working really well. I run my website using Wix, and it shows that visitors all over the world have come to my website after finding my Instagram through hashtags!
What’s a goal you have for your business?
Right now, my biggest goal is to open an actual storefront. Rent isn’t cheap, but it’s something I’m saving up for right now! I think it’d be amazing to be a bigger part of the local community that way and allow more people to discover my store. (In the long run, I’d love to run my boutique full-time and expand it into a chain, like Pretty Little Things or Forever 21!)
What advice would you give to someone else thinking of starting a boutique?
Just do it. You’re probably thinking about money, time, whether it’s even possible for you to do it right now, all of those things. But just do it. Doubt comes in a lot in my life, too. I’m constantly wondering how I’ll make the time. But it’s something you have to keep pushing to do, and if I can do it, you can too. Sure, you might fail – but you also might succeed, and you’ll never know until you just get started!
