10 Summer Sale Ideas for Your Boutique

Memorial Day weekend has just come and gone, school’s out for most kids… and you know what that means. Summer has begun!

Unfortunately, most boutique owners don’t exactly have a summer vacation. Owning your own business is a year-round commitment! But just because you’re busy running your boutique doesn’t mean you can’t take the chance to celebrate the summer season… and give your customers something to celebrate about, too.

With warmer weather, no school, summer vacays, and way more freedom on the horizon, it’s a great time to get creative and run a few fun sales in your boutique!

Items Every Boutique Owner Should Be Selling!

While running too many sales back-to-back can make your customers less likely to purchase things at full price, running a well-timed promotion can make a world of a difference. Discount sales can help you drive loads of sales in your boutique, help you reach new customers, and even get rid of stock that’s been taking up too much space in your warehouse for too long. Plus, it’s a way to show your loyal customers just how much you appreciate them!

Here are 10 summer sale ideas for your boutique that you should consider trying out in the coming months:

summer sale items for your business

  1. Memorial Day Sale

Did you know that Memorial Day is one of the biggest sales weekends of the year? Falling on the last Monday of May, this three-day weekend gives your customers even more time to shop – and with so many other companies running Memorial Day sales, your customers might even expect it from you! Consider offering 10% off sitewide or choosing a few select summery products to discount.

  1. Off-season clearout sale

Take a look at your warehouse, your closet, wherever you store your unsold merchandise. Do you have tons of winter clothes taking up precious space? Are you thinking of going in a different direction during upcoming seasons and want to start fresh? Consider running an off-season clearout sale, heavily discounting products you’re looking to get rid of. Your customers who are always planning ahead and looking around for great deals will thank you!

  1. Fun in the Sun Sale

Pick a day early on in the season to run a great deal on swimsuits, beach towels, sunblock… whatever your customers might need to beat the heat and enjoy the warmer weather! You could offer beach day bundle deals of multiple products, offer discounts when customers pair a swimsuit purchase with a beach towel, or simply discount everything in your shop for one day only.

  1. BOGO Summery Clothes Sale

For a lot of people, the beginning of summer doesn’t just mean warmer weather ahead – it also signals a time to put away their warm clothes and refresh their wardrobe! Help your customers update their closet for the months ahead by running a BOGO sale. (As a bonus, it’ll help you clear out some of your inventory and encourage larger-volume purchases!) How you structure your sale is totally up to you – you could do a buy one swimsuit get one free sale, a buy one pair of shorts get the second pair half off, whatever you’d like!

  1. Summer Solstice Sale

Memorial Day may mark the unofficial start of summer, the official first day of summer is June 20, the Summer Solstice. Commemorate the longest, sunniest day of the entire year with a one-day-only sale. You could offer 20% off select items or offer a 6 for 20 sale on low-priced products as a nod to the date. May as well take advantage of any opportunity to celebrate!

  1. 4th of July sale

Sparklers, BBQs, pool parties, freedom… what’s not to love? You could run a promotion on patriotic or red, white, and blue products a week or so ahead of the fourth to give your customers time to prepare for the holiday, or run a sale the weekend of the holiday to celebrate.

  1. Bounceback sale

You don’t just want your customers to place one order and then never think of your shop again – ideally, you want them to keep coming back! Incentivize return purchases with a bounceback sale. You could advertise that all customers who place an order within a certain timeframe will receive a discount code or a free gift with their next purchase. Or you could encourage multiple visits to your shop with a punch card, offering a deal or free item once they collect a certain number of punches.

  1. Father’s Day Sale

Sure, if your usual clientele is decidedly female, most of your products might be more on the girly side as well. But with Father’s Day falling on the third Sunday in June, you have the chance to do your customers a real service by offering them gift ideas for the father figures in their life. Consider curating a Father’s Day gift guide of products from your shop and discounting select items in the weeks leading up to Father’s Day.

  1. Back to school sale

School may be out for the summer, but it won’t be out forever. This coming August, run a sale on items your customers and their children might need as they prepare for school to be back in session. You could run a promotion on notebooks, pencil cases, backpacks, children’s apparel, stationery, and more.

Yep, you guessed it – Labor Day is another major sales weekend for retail stores. Falling on the first Monday of September, Labor Day typically marks the end of the summer season – even if blazing hot temperatures might suggest otherwise! Consider running a sale on products for the upcoming fall season, or discounting summer clothing in a clearout sale.
